  • 1 pack of “sazon”
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon of “sofrito”
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (canola or corn)
  • 1 can of pinto beans (do not drain)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cups of rice
  • 2 1/2 cups of water

  1. Mix all the ingredients in group A in a large pot
  2. Bring to a boil using high heat
  3. Mix in the water and let it boil again
  4. Mix in rice and let it boil (move every few minutes thoroughly to make sure the color is consistent throughout the whole pot) until the water evaporates and the rice barely sticks above the water
  5. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to medium
  6. Uncover and mix well after 5 minutes
  7. Cover again and let it cook for another 10 minutes
  8. Uncover, mix and taste it. It is done when the rice is soft. If not ready you can leave it for a few extra minutes.
